During little Brandon's science class the other day, we made something quite interesting. It's called slime, or silly putty, or goo (or whatever you want to call it). Here's the recipe and instructions that the teacher gave us.
What you'll need:
2 x mixing bowls
spoon
ziplock bags
plate
Borax (1 teaspoon)
warm water (1-1/2 cups)
glue (1 bottle)
food coloring
glitter (if desired)
Instructions:
In a small bowl, mix 1 cup of warm water and 1 tsp of Borax. Be careful not to get any in your eyes or in your mouth. Have an adult help you with this part. Stir the water and Borax together until it is all dissolved.
Then in a separate bowl, pour in your bottle of glue and 1/2 cup of water and 8-10 drops of food colouring (and glitter if you wish). Stir the mixture well.
Once you have finished stirring the glue and food coloring, carefully pour your water and Borax solution into the glue mixture and stir.
The substance will begin to clump together and harden. Pour out any extra water into a bowl and mix the solution with your hands until it forms a slime ball. When you are happy the way it looks and feels, put the slime ball on a plate and leave it for 10-15 minutes.
Store the slime or putty into a Ziplock bag and in the fridge when you're not playing with it to keep it fresh.
