Sleep Training Failure

I have been trying to sleep train Brandon for the past few weeks and nothing seem to be
progressing. During the sleep training, I would just let him cry for up to 10 minutes in his crib. He'd rather co-sleep with me. He has tried falling asleep on his own after the third day. It was only one time he slept without nursing, but he still rolled around. At other times, he just won't sleep throughout the night or fall asleep on his own.

Brandon has been nursed to sleep since he was born. I think it has become a habit now and it's hard to transition. Also,he sleeps with me most of the time though the crib is in our room. Even still when put in his own crib, he would just cry. I Felt hopeless. He doesn't have his own room yet as we don't have the extra living space.

My hubby isn't much help either. He would keep telling me to nurse Brandon and it's always me who has to put him to sleep. One time early in the morning when Brandon couldn't stop crying (as I didn't give him the breast), and the hubby complains and tells me he needs to get a bit of sleep for another hour before he gets up to go to work. I was mad and took Brandon with me to sleep in the playroom and just layed on the sofa there.

By the way, my hubby have been sleeping on the couch (not the one in the playroom) since Brandon was 3 or 4 months old. We have not slept together for over half a year now. I don't think this is a healthy relationship. It's terrible!

If anyone can give me some advice, that would be helpful. Thanks for reading.

Teaching Your Baby to Spoon Feed

When your baby is about a year old (between 11-18 months), you can start introducing him/her to the spoon. Sometimes they watch their parents with silverware and tries to imitate what they see. Once your baby has learned to self feed finger foods, it's time to move on to letting him have the spoon. Baby Brandon has already self-feed finger foods at 9 months. I give him bits of cookies/Mum-mums on his tray and he would grab it with this fingers and put it in his mouth.

You can let your baby play with a plastic spoon. It is a bit difficult at first, but he/she will soon learn to hold the spoon properly by showing him and repeating the process. I somtimes put a bit of food on the spoon that he holds and showing him and help him lift his spoon to his mouth.

If your baby makes a mess, don't get upset. Let him/her get messy. What I like to use to keep his clothes clean is have him wear a bib or feeding shirt with sleeves. You can buy it at Toys-R-Us or IKEA. I bought mine's (Barnslig Rand Bib) from IKEA for $5.99 /2 pack.

Here's a video I took of my little baby Brandon spoon-feeding himself for the first time.

Brandon's first trip to the Aquarium

What a day! It was Brandon's first trip to the Vancouver Aquarium at Stanley Park. It was a perfect day as it was not too sunny. We met up with my friends Ricky & Cecelia and their little Brandon (Yes, another Brandon). There were lots of cool stuff to see. I didn't bring my Nikon camera, but the pics weren't too bad with the Canon. Some photos to share...

Baby Brandon Giggles at the Burps

Our Brandon just like to laugh at funny noises, even his own burps and farts. He giggles at daddy's fake burps. I love his cute giggles.

Long Weekend Adventures: Dino Town, Stanley Park, Museum, Science World

It was the long weekend as it was our Civic Holiday. Hubby (Brandon's daddy) surprised us on a road trip to Dino Town (in Chilliwack) on Saturday, August 1st. Pretty exciting for Brandon. It was really nice and sunny too. The part he loved the most are the swings that were hanging on the tree house.

On Sunday August 2nd, *daddy* surprised us again and took us to Stanley Park to go to the Vancouver Aquarium. Again another nice and hot sunny day, but we found out there was a very long line up to get in. I was like, "Holy Moly!" Must be because of the long weekend. We didn't want to wait outside and be exposed to the sun (if only there was shade or covered).

We walked back towards the parking lot and passed by swings. Brandon saw it and pointed to it, telling daddy he wants to play. It was nice that it was in the shade with a lot of trees. Brandon couldn't get enough of the swings and he wanted more. He started whining after we had to take him out.

The photos are a bit blurry because I didn't bring my good camera. Brandon was also moving about.

We left the Vancouver Aquarium at Stanley Park and decided to go to Science World.

The next day (Monday, August 3rd), we went to UBC Museum of Anthropology. Lots of Native history and totems. Not really too much exciting for me tho.
