Laurie Berkner's "LOVE" - In Time for Valentine's Day

Best-selling children's recording artist and preschool television favorite Laurie Berkner will release a fully remastered digital album, Love, on January 29, in time for Valentine's Day. Featuring songs performed by Laurie Berkner and personally selected from eight of Laurie's best-loved albums, Love celebrates that mysterious force that makes the world go 'round while showcasing a world-class voice gracefully delivering a virtuosic range of moods and musical styles.

With a warm mix of sixteen songs (plus two super sweet bonus tracks!), Love essays love as a two-way street connecting the child, the parent, and the world. From snuggle-up songs like "I Gave My Love A Cherry" (featuring Laurie's daughter, Lucy Mueller) and the goodnight lullaby "Your Beautiful Eyes" to get-up-and-dance favorites like "My Family," Love provides a great way to say "I love you" on Valentine's Day and throughout the year.

Reflecting on Valentine's Day, Laurie Berkner says, "I noticed how many of my songs are about loving someone in your family, loving someone in your life, and loving yourself. With Valentine's Day coming up, I thought it would be fun to put those songs together on one album. Valentine's Day is so often thought of in terms of romantic love, but, to me, it speaks to all the aspects of love in a much more inclusive way. There are so many kinds of love in the world! I want to celebrate all of them."

Love begins with Laurie Berkner's song "Open Your Heart," originally written to bring attention to the charitable organization The Pajama Program, which delivers pajamas to kids in foster care. "Open Your Heart" expresses everyone's need to be loved and cared for, even when they can do things for themselves.

Laurie Berkner's lightly swinging rendition of "Fly Me To The Moon" offers a very personal way of expressing "I love you" to anyone, while her classic "Under A Shady Tree" is a sunny, reggae-influenced song about being together. "Blow A Kiss" begins a cappella and ends up sounding like a slumber party sing-along, and "Goodnight" is simply so full of love it could glow in the dark.

A former preschool teacher by day and indie rocker by night, Laurie Berkner started marketing her music more than fifteen years ago from her living room on her own label, Two Tomatoes Records. She is now widely recognized as a pioneer in the "kindie" music genre and was crowned "the undisputed queen of kindie rock" by USA Today. The Wall Street Journal noted, "Her music is distinctive because it speaks to kids without talking down to them, charming youngsters without boring grown-ups."

Laurie was the first artist to ever appear in music videos on Nick Jr. and was featured in nearly all the episodes of the channel's Jack's Big Music Show. She currently stars in the animated musical short-form series Sing it, Laurie! on the Sprout preschool channel and has made regular appearances on Sprout's Sunny Side Up morning show. Laurie is also a familiar presence on SiriusXM's Kids Place Live, where her The Music In Me Minute, featuring tips from Laurie about incorporating music into family life, is heard daily.
