Learning Money With Leo App Review + $50 Visa GC Giveaway

Learning Money with Leo

Thanks to RBC Royal Bank, kids can have fun and learn about the value of money with their latest app. The games and activities are narrated by Leo the lion. He gives simple instructions and positive messages to engage your children and cheer them on to success. The app provides parents a practical and fun way to help teach kids about the concepts and value of money. The app is FREE to download from the App Store.

Activities include 5 colourful and exciting games that provide children with an opportunity to recognize coins of different denominations, and interact with them in a variety of ways. There is also a read-along story book, coloring book, as well as sticker book.

Once children earn reward coins by playing the games, they can buy stickers at the sticker store, choose a scene to paste them on, and even take a final picture of their masterpiece.

Features & Benefits:
- Provide kids with an introduction to the concepts and value of money
- Teach kids about earning, saving, and spending money
- Help kids develop a foundation of basic money skills that they can build upon in years to come

Little Brandon was excited when I told him that I had a new iPad game called Learning Money with Leo from RBC Royal Bank. He loves playing and learning on my iPad. I think this app is his new favorite now because he wouldn't let go of it and wants to keep trying. He was playing with it all day! His most favorite part was earning money to buy his virtual stickers to add to his collection.

For me, I like the "Sort the Coins" activity. It teaches Brandon how to count and how to sort coins by putting the same coins in the right piggy bank. We have play money, too, which also helps him learn, but sometimes it does go missing around the house.

Teaching young children about money is definitely one of those life skills that can sometimes be overlooked. Yet it’s so important to build a solid foundation of money concepts for your child to build on. This new iPad application will help children with the development of basic money skills at an early age, and will ensure that they can build upon these essential life-skills for years to come. Plus, it’s a lot of fun, so it’ll also keep them entertained when you most need it! We give him a small amount every week for completing his chores. He has had to learn to budget to get some of the toys he wants, it has been a valuable tool.

I don't have children but providing an allowance could be a launching off point for laying the foundations of money management.

It's so important to teach kids the value of money because too many people these days take it for granted. Kids need to know to manage money NOW so that we can all have a financially secure world in the future!

My son gets a weekly allowance and I encourage him to save some of it. He's learning that if he wants to buy something, it'll require a certain amount of saving before he can buy it.

I believe it's important to learn your independance when you are young. Especially if you are a girl. I wanted my kids to know that they can rely on themselves. I wanted their relationships to be developed with independance. I started giving them an allowance when they were five. We then had then put part of it in a jar and once a month we would deposit it to their bank account and they got to watch how it grew!

My son used to get an allowance...when he was young and he had to save up for something he really wanted or blow it on something silly. He learned fast!

My 5 yr old has certain jobs that he isn't paid to do (clean room, set table etc) and there is a list pf jobs posted with corresponding values of extra jobs he can do to earn money. If he does them, he has money to get himself something, if not then he doesn't.

we have our kids come in to the bank with us so they can see how to put money into savings

They have to be taught that they have to earn money and how hard it is to earn it, so if they want something they have to save for it just like adults

I think its important to show kids that money is not to be wasted and that it isn't the key to happiness, the best way to do that is to model that in the way you spend money as a family.

you have to teach them to be realistic, do you need this or do you want this, cus once they hit the college ages they are gonna need food, not that xbox360 game

The older ones have a paypal account with a debit card, they get an allowance and have learned how to budget. The younger ones get an allowance in cash and have to also show why they need something before spending money.
