Copy-Kids: Eat Fruits & Vegetables DVD {Review & Giveaway}
It's true how kids like to copy other kids. I've participated in family programs in my community centres where we have a group of kids sit together and eat their snacks or lunch. Often I hear concerns from many parents/caregivers about their kids not eating enough or just picky eaters. Eating together is a great way to encourage kids to eat. It's great when I see my little one actually eat his fruits and vegetables when he sees other kids eat the same thing and because he knows it's healthy and good for him.
COPY-KIDS MEDIA, an independent media company, presents its debut DVD. Copy-Kids Eat Fruits and Vegetables is the first DVD in a series designed to encourage healthy habits in young children. This series is for children aged six months to 5 years. The video is fun and compelling for both children and parents as well as helps get parents get their children hooked on healthy, positive habits.
Copy Kids Eat Fruit and Vegetables is divided into 12 chapters, each focusing on a different fruit or vegetable. The yummy veggies and fruits include:
- Bell Peppers
- Cucumbers
- Carrots
- Avocado
- Tomatoes
- Broccoli
- Oranges
- Bananas
- Raspberries
- Strawberries
- Apples
- Blueberries
Director Malona Badelt was volunteering at an orphanage in Ghana when she was asked to direct Copy-Kids. She literally got off the plane in LA and drove to a test shoot that same day. She fell in love with the project and was able to coax the most amazing performances out of each cast member. It’s unscripted and quirky, with children behaving authentically, which gives it surprise and comedy. “I would never have gotten such amazing performances if the video had been scripted,” says Badelt. “Each child brought his or her own piece of magic to the project.”
For parents, the DVD also features an interview with renowned pediatrician Dr. Jay Gordon, MD, FAAP, author of Good Food Today, Great Kids Tomorrow. He talks about childhood overweight and obesity, suggests ways that parents can get their children to make healthier food choices, and explains why Copy-Kids is such a powerful idea, noting "That's just the way kids are, they love to copy other kids."
Selected as one of the 10 Best Audio/Visuals for 2011 by Stevanne Auerbach, PhD. / Dr. Toy. It’s a unique tool for parents who want to encourage healthy eating in their children.
This innovative DVD is engaging & enchanting – kids want to play it over and over as they learn to love these healthy foods. Dixon adds, “Just be sure you have these foods at home – because your kids are going to want to eat what the Copy-Kids are eating.”
ONE (1) lucky winner will receive a copy of Copy-Kids eat Fruits and Vegetables DVD! Contest is open to US & Canada, 18+. Contest ends January 20th, 2014 at 11:59pm EST. Winner will have 48 hours to respond to claim their prize (or another winner will be chosen). Good Luck!

Sports Illustrated Kids Announces SportsKid of the Year
Each year, Sports Illustrated Kids recognizes children ages 7-15 who show phenomenal sportsmanship through their achievement in school, their communities and sports with its SportsKid of the Year award. This year’s SportsKid of the Year winner is Jack Wellman of Newtown, Connecticut. Jack was chosen for the leadership, dedication, and spirit he showed following the horrible tragedy in his hometown that occurred nearly one year ago.
Like most kids, Jack Wellman loves sports. Until last year, he wrestled and played football and lacrosse. But then a bad injury sidelined him. Instead of sitting out, Jack decided he wanted to stay involved and give back by coaching. Even though he was just 13, he became a valuable mentor to a group of young wrestlers.
Jack's leadership, kindness, and spirit were exactly what his community of Newtown, Connecticut, needed when it suffered a terrible tragedy last winter. It inspired Jack to be as active as ever. He found ways to help his town heal through sports and beyond. Jack's big heart and determination to help his community are why he is the 2013 Sports Illustrated Kids SportsKid of the Year.

Ronald McDonald House Hosts Holiday Season Event with Kidz Entertainment, Inc.
Hi everyone! If you live in the New York area, don't miss this fun children's holiday event event. There will be singalongs, book readings and presentations, and even gifts!
With the holiday season in full swing, Long Island's own Diane Baumann and her amazing line of children's products Kidz Entertainment, Inc. will be making an appearance at The Ronald McDonald House located at 267-07 76th Avenue, New Hyde Park NY on Saturday December 14th from 1pm to 5pm. This event will be taped for viewing by MadhouseTV.
In addition to supplying the facility with a generous donation of 75 picture book sets, the children will have a chance to meet Diane where she will sing a few holiday songs. Other local Long Island celebrity entertainers and politicians are expected to stop by during the event, as well.
ABOUT KIDZ ENTERTAINMENT INC:
Kidz Entertainment Inc. creates quality products, very cleverly packaged, to give your child an educational, musical, entertaining and interactive experience bundled into one adventure!!! These unique products combine the worlds of children, animals and music with color and excitement and reach children on many sensory levels. You can find several great new reviews of the products on the heavily trafficked CatWisdom101.com, NyMomsWorld.com and MyPawsitivelyPets.com.
Kidz Entertainment's latest series includes their Poodle Handbag/Muff/Plush Animal, Brown Dog Handbag/Muff/Plush Animal, White Cat Handbag/Muff/Plush Animal, Calico Cat Handbag/Muff/Plush Animal, Dalmatian Handbag/Muff/Plush Animal - not unlike the trendy bags being worn by young girls across the world, such as Quvenzhané Wallis wore on the Red Carpet at the Oscars, and Pansie the Pig Handbag/Muff/Plush Animal all available for purchase at their website http://www.kidzentertainmentinc.com. Other items sold on the site include an animal rescue puzzle, a Show Dog picture book set complete with an award winning song and more.
The Long Island based company, which has recently also received favorable media coverage in print outlets like the Long Island Press, Newsday's Kidsday and on the cover of The Pennysaver Town Crier has additionally made generous donations of the company's products. Earlier this year, they gave a special donation of 181 picture book sets to the Long Beach children from West School Elementary at Lindell Elementary School, to assist in bringing smiles and enjoyment to some of the children who are still being affected by the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy. In the past, they have donated picture book sets to the children of Haiti and the children's library in San Pedro, Belize, as well.
The company was also involved with sold out stints at the Westminster Dog Show and the LI Pet Expo. Founder Diane Baumann was on hand at The Renaissance Charter School in Flushing for a screening of the film "The Little Shop of Wonders", by Snowflake Video Productions for which she wrote the title track – as part of the The Queens World Film Festival. Since making a generous donation to the Long Beach West School in Long Beach back in June to assist with Hurricane Sandy recovery, Diane Baumann and the fast rising Baldwin, Long Island NY based toy manufacturer Kidz Entertainment Inc certainly haven’t been resting on their laurels; and they don’t seem to be planning on it anytime soon! There are no less than five charity events which were organized by the Baldwin4Children organization (which has been actively fundraising for months trying to put back the activities that were cut because of the Baldwin school budget) that the company participated in; the events included the BaldwinPalooza event, an event with Baldwin bred UFC Champion Chris Weidman in Rockville Center, the Baldwin Walkathon, a Book and DVD Sale in Baldwin, and most recently the Baldwin Carz4Kidz Show. All in all, donations numbered about one hundred pieces for the five events.
Some other important items of interest; the company just signed on for a drop ship agreement with Canadian Distributor Border Brands. In addition, another company called Lifestyle Brands, which is located in the Southeast United States and which is going to launch in December, will also carry their line. Additionally, their brand new Rescue Hero picture book is finished. A purple plush dog handbag for girls and a rescue hero plush dog for boys is being manufactured right now. These products are modeled after the characters in the book.
Kidz Entertainment Inc also can been seen on several just filmed TV programs, including a segment on “MaKING a Difference with Gail King” for Madhouse TV here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dx9BRuFcCVo and for Verizon Fios1 TV’s “My Long Island” here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPO8UUK26Uo
Diane is also continuing to receive personal accolades, having been nominated for the “Best of Long Island 2014” by the Long Island Press and Bethpage Federal Credit Union in Author Category. Vote for Diane here: http://vote.longislandpress.com/engine/YourSubmission.aspx?contestid=104487

Disney's Frozen {A Review}
Walt Disney Animation Studios, the studio behind "Tangled" and "Wreck-It Ralph," presents "Frozen," a stunning big-screen comedy adventure. Fearless optimist Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) sets off on an epic journey, teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff) and his loyal reindeer Sven, to find her sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter. Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom.
Little Brandon, along with our aunt and cousin, had the chance to watch the advanced screening of the film. This is niceThe story and music were really touching. Before Frozen was released, I didn't know what to think about the movie. I didn't see a lot of the promotion on television. I remember seeing a short introductory and at first I thought the main character was the little snowman. It was more about the two sisters and their relationship. The characters were very adorable. What's funny I thought that Anna looked a lot like Rapunzel in Disney's Tangled. Hm, what do you think?
There's a little twist in the end which made the movie more interesting. It wouldn't be as interesting without a bad guy. Sorry for the minor spoiler here. You gotta go watch to see the whole story. Disney FROZEN is in theatres (released November 27th).
Disclosure: I was given complimentary tickets to see the pre-screening for the mentioned film from Disney Studios Canada. Any expressed opinions are my own and personal thoughts. No other compensation was given.
