Rosita y Conchita Story App Review

Rosita y Conchita - Peek 'n Play Story App

Another wonderful story app just released on Thursday, October 25, 2012 by Mobad Media.

A touching tale of twin sisters a world apart, but to find each other they must rely on the closeness of their heart.

Help Conchita celebrate the life of her dearly departed sister as she sets up a memorial altar for her on the Day of the Dead. Follow Rosita on her journey as she makes her way through the spirit world following the clues from the altar in hopes of seeing her sister again.

Features:
• "Read To Me" highlights the words to improve reading skills
• "I Can Read" allows reading at your own pace
• Individual words can be tapped and multiple words selected to hear that section of the story played back
• How to Make a Sugar Skull
• How to Draw Rosita
• Interactive surprises and hidden objects on every page
• Hints can be turned on to assist in finding interactive thingamabobs
• Auto Play available if you want to watch the story unfold like a movie

This is an exciting way to teach children to read and be interested while reading the story. You have the option of having the story read to you or you read it on your own in English or Spanish. It's nice to learn the Spanish version of the story. The illustrations and characters are also really cute.

The story is about two sisters (one dead and one alive) who find a way to connect with each other. Brandon didn't seem much interested much about the story. He did enjoy more of the interactive parts where he could move things around. The story app I would recommend for the older child around ages 5 and up that would understand a little more about death and what is happening in the story.

Disclosure: I received a code to redeem for the above App at no charge in exchange for a review of my opinion. The opinions expressed are my own personal and honest thoughts. No other compensation was given.

Kinder Surprise Eggs 2013 Toy Collection

I've mentioned in my previous post how I am very excited that I am a KinderMom (first time too). We've just received our box of Kinder Surprise Chocolate eggs. Brandon was at school and I surprised him when we got home. I know it is his favorite treat.

I told Brandon that I will be rewarding him a Kinder Egg if he behaved and helped me around the house. When he heard that I am a KinderMom, he got excited and that smile on his face was priceless. It was so adorable when he said, "I didn't know you are a KinderMom." I let him unwrap the foil and was so quick to get a bite into that chocolate. He shared the other half of the Kinder chocolate egg with me.

We planned to share the Kinder Surprise eggs to each of his preschool classmates and teachers on Halloween (just in time for Halloween). It's going to bring bright smiles to the children's faces.

Recently, KinderCanada held a 10,000 Kinder Surprise Egg Giveaway on their Facebook Page to celebrate the launch of their brand new 2013 Toy Collection. Amazingly, I less than an hour of announcing the giveaway, all the eggs were claimed! People really love Kinder,Unfortunately, some of my friends had trouble getting into the page and missed it. If you are not yet a Facebook Fan, follow KinderCanada at www.facebook.com/KinderCanada to stay up-to-date on ontests, coupons and promotions.

There will be lots of new toys to play with including Softy Tummies, funny Bounching Monsters, the Combo Cars, the Cino Rings, and the Scary Dino Age series. Coming from Uears of experience and innovation at KINDER, this fantastic collection is centered around four core pillars that bring joy and delight to your kids: Adventure, Exploration, Artistic Development and Active Lifestyle.

Disclosure: I’m part of the Kinder® Mom program and I received compensation as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog are my own.

Healthy Child Healthy World Partners with Parenting Experts in their Crusade Against Food Dye in Fruit Snacks

Lifestyle and wellness experts Erica Reid and Latham Thomas join forces with Healthy Child Healthy World in a petition to the Kellogg Company on the risks of food dye in fruit snacks

Non-profit Healthy Child Healthy World joins parenting and lifestyle experts Erica Reid and Latham Thomas in a petition targeting the Kellogg Company and asking John A. Bryant, President & CEO of Kellogg’s to take the first step in removing artificial food dyes from Kellogg’s children’s fruit snacks. Artificial food dyes have been linked to cancer, hyperactivity and allergies and does not belong in children’s fruit snacks. Many parents are unaware of the risks associated with food dyes and mistakenly assume “fruit snacks” are a healthier snack alternative for their children.

“I was absolutely one of those moms that gave both of my children fruit snacks thinking it was better than candy,” says Erica Reid, author of The Thriving Child, “At the time, I was not aware of the potential harm from food dyes and didn’t think twice because the word ‘fruit’ was attached. Now, I know better.”

Erica Reid and Latham Thomas are on a mission to educate parents about the risks of these snacks and implore parents to join them in their crusade to remove these harmful dyes from their children’s everyday snack foods.

“When Erica, Latham and I sat down to talk about this issue, we just knew we had to come together and take action. As mothers, we are concerned and worried about sugar but often don’t realize that it’s not just the sugar in these products that are affecting our children’s health. It’s the artificial food dyes too,” said Gigi Lee Chang, CEO of Healthy Child Healthy World.

Each year in the United States at least 15 million pounds of dyes are used in everything from candy and fruit snacks to pickles, bread, snack foods, sodas and dessert. Since 1955, there has been a five-fold increase in food dye consumption, according to the Center for Science in the Public Interest.

In Britain, a warning label is required on all foods containing artificial food dyes. Kellogg’s Fruit Winders Snacks sold in Britain are made without food dyes, yet the United States’ equivalent still contains artificial colors. Several of the dyes used in the Kellogg Company’s fruit snacks, such as Yellow 5, Red 40, and Blue 1 are known to cause allergy-like effects. Another dye, Red 3, is a known carcinogen and has been linked to cancer.

Latham Thomas, a holistic lifestyle expert and Founder of MamaGlow.com says, “our children are consuming packaged foods and even with proper guidance it's hard for them to avoid the synthetic dyes, specifically in foods marketed to them. We are asking Kellogg to remove artificial food dyes from their fruit flavored snacks because not only do these products contain food dyes, but all the kids’ favorite cartoon characters and super heroes are on the box, making it that much harder to say no.”

"Artificial food dyes have been linked to hyperactivity, allergies and cancer, yet they are found everywhere from beverages to snack foods. For optimal health, parents would be well-advised to limit the amount of food dyes their children consume," said Alan Greene, MD, a leading pediatrician and author of Raising Baby Green.

For more information and/or to sign Erica Reid and Latham Thomas’ petition to John A. Bryant, President & CEO Kellogg Company, please visit healthychild.org/kelloggs.

Kiddy Stroller Giveaway

A high quality, sturdy, and stylish stroller can be hard to come by. Today you don't have to look very far since we're giving one away! The German engineered Kiddy City 'N Move is everything a parent dreams of and now it is available to us in the U.S.

The Kiddy City 'N Move is a full-feature stroller - not really an 'umbrella' stroller like you're used to. We are in love with the huge canopy that will shield your baby from sun-up to sun-down. An easy one-hand recline is great for infants and napping toddlers. The storage pocket and undercarriage basket have enough room for all the necessities and a little more. The umbrella fold is easy once you get the hang of it and it's compact. The harness, bumper bar, and adjustable footrest make the seat a very comfy place for baby. You can read the full review of the Kiddy City 'n Move Stroller over at Eco-Babyz and see a myriad of detailed photos as well as a 3 year old and 1 year old using it!

Our Favorite Features:
  • Modern, fun colors
  • Huge, ridiculously generous canopy!
  • One hand recline
  • Self-locks when folding
  • Superior handling
  • Very sturdy, high quality construction
  • Comes with parent cup holder and car seat adapters
  • For kids up to 55 pounds
Purchase: The Kiddy City 'n Move retails for $219.99, but it is so new that it isn't even available to buy just yet! You will find it here on Amazon in the next couple of weeks. You may also check out the list of retailers (which will be updated soon) to see who carries one.

Win One! Kiddy is blessing one of you with the Kiddy City 'n Move stroller in your choice of color: Phantom, Stone, Jaffa, Hawaii, Lavender, Cranberry, or Walnut (subject to availability).

Wordless Wednesday: Drawings on the Fridge

Yep, Brandon loves drawing (just like his mommy). I meant to post this a while ago, but finally took some photos to show you what happened. He plastered his drawings (held up by magnets) all over the fridge! I said to him, "Where's my fridge?" Then he starts laughing.
