Holiday Gift Guide: Christmas Holiday Story Books from RunningPressKids

The holidays often come with an abundance of family time. What better way to spend time together than reading books with children? From traditional holiday stories to new beloved tales, Running Press has some great titles to offer that both children and parents can enjoy.

There are a couple of wonderful picture books this season. OH MY, OH NO!, by Lisa Charrier, is the perfect book to celebrate the bond between a mother and child. This cheery call-and-response book with Agnès Domergue’s beautiful watercolor illustrations shows the delightful message that love matters most of all.

I love the adorable illustrations and the the story just melts my heart. It will sure to make you and your little one smile.

Parents now can share their favorite holiday stories with their children with two revamped titles. Anyone who enjoys the traditional Christmas tale of Scrooge and his ghosts will love STEAMPUNK: Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol illustrated by Zdenko Basic. This book includes the original text of A Christmas Carol, two other Dickens holiday stories, and haunting steampunk illustrations that the whole family can appreciate.

This book is for the older kids. I remember hearing the story when I was younger. It tells the time-honored tale of the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, whose encounters with the ghosts of Jacob Marley, Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and Christmas Yet to Come lead him to examine his bitter existence.

For the younger crowd, A TREASURY OF CHRISTMAS CLASSICS includes The Night Before Christmas, The Twelve Days of Christmas, and The Nutcracker. All three of these holiday favorites are accompanied with whimsical illustrations by Christian Birmingham and Don Daily.

From E.T.A. Hoffman's magical, romantic tale to the joyful Christmas carol to Clement C. Moore's cherished poem of St. Nicholas, this magical treasury is filled with love, warmth, and yuletide cheer.

Kids love seeing their favorite characters in new stories. ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: It’s Show Time!, by Ross Bagdasarian and Janice Karman, is an interactive book that shows Alvin, Simon, and Theodore putting on a benefit concert to help animals at the local shelter get adopted. It includes eight interactive sound prompts and full-color illustrations throughout.

This interactive book is our little one's most favorite. Kids love to press buttons and hear sounds. It was fun listening to the Chipmunks sing. This book is a sweet story about working out differences and helping the local community. Songs include Witch Doctor (Original), Witch Doctor (Club Mix), We're the Chipmunks (Original), We're the Chipmunks (Deetown Mix), and Thank You.

Families are able to celebrate Christmas with Snoopy and the gang in BE JOYFUL: Peanuts Wisdom to Carry You Through, by Charles M. Schulz, and share in PEANUTS memories with beloved and inspirational quotes.

Snoopy and the Peanuts gang is my all-time favorite. Many will agree that is is never really Christmas without them. In true Peanuts wisdom, "Be Joyful" is the perfect reminder to celebrate the simple joys with of family, friends, and goodwill during the holidays.
