Book Review & Giveaway: The Best Homemade Baby Food on the Planet

The Best Homemade Baby Food on the Planet, by Karin Knight, R.N., and Tina Ruggiero, M.S., R.D., L.D., (Fair Winds Press, 2010, $19.99) was recently picked as a finalist for the International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) Cookbook award in the Children, Youth, and Family category.

"The Best Homemade Baby Food on the Planet" features over 200 recipes, including 60 purees, of deliciously nutritious homemade baby food. Most recipes can be made in 10 minutes or less! The chapters guide you through everything you need to know to make your own healthy and tasty baby & toddler food, including how to get started, and how to feed your baby as he/she grows.

Preparing simple, homemade baby food (or toddler food) using natural ingredients at home is the perfect way to ensure your little one gets the most nutritious food. You get the peace of mind of knowing what has gone into every bite your baby takes. And with a nod from the IACP, you know you'll be making wonderful food for your child.

MY REVIEW:

I absolutely love this book. I never knew making baby food & toddler food was that simple. Since I have been a first-time mom, I used to stock up on store-bought baby food which contain preservatives. I tried to stay away from that now and make and freeze my own homemade food. This recipe book isn't just for babies. There are great ideas for making nutritious toddler food. The book is filled with recipes ideal for infants and toddlers up to 2 years of age. There aren't a lot of photos in the book, but the presentations in a few of the photos are very adorable and colorful.

To make things even more easy, each recipe also contains the following:

* Two methods for preparation (stovetop or microwave) wherever applicable, so you can whip up recipes in however much time you have. Many microwave options make it possible for meals to be made in less than 10 minutes

* An easy-to-spot snowflake icon on all recipes that is suitable for freezing, so you can make baby's meals ahead of time, and in bulk, to save time and money.

* Nutritional analysis, so you can be sure you're giving your child the best possible start.

WHERE TO BUY: The book is paperback and is available for purchase at Amazon.com
